What a dyno pull is
A dynamometer, or dyno, measures the power your car actually puts to the ground. The car is secured on the dyno and run through a controlled full-throttle pull, usually in a single gear across the engine's RPM range. The dyno measures the force at the wheels and turns it into horsepower and torque figures.
The result isn't just a peak number. You see a power and torque curve: where the engine makes power, where it falls off, and whether anything looks off along the way. A dip or a jagged spot in the curve can point to a problem you'd never pin down on the street.
A dyno also lets you test full throttle safely and repeatably. Every pull runs under the same controlled conditions, which makes it easy to compare one change against another.
Why all-wheel drive matters
Many performance cars, and plenty of everyday cars and SUVs, send power to all four wheels. On a dyno built to drive only one axle, those vehicles often can't be run properly. Some need part of the drivetrain disconnected or disabled first, and some shouldn't go on at all.
An all-wheel-drive dyno loads both axles together. The car runs the way it's designed to drive, and the results reflect how it actually puts power down. If you own an all-wheel-drive car, that's the difference between a real test and a workaround.

Before and after: verifying a tune
The most useful dyno session is often two sessions. A baseline pull records your car before any changes. After an intake, an exhaust, a turbo upgrade or a new tune, a second pull on the same dyno shows what changed.
That's how you know whether a part was worth the money. It also shows whether a tune made smooth, consistent power, or whether something needs another look. Numbers from different dynos rarely match, so comparing on the same one is what counts.

What to expect
Call or text to book. Dyno time is usually scheduled about one week out. When you reach out, tell us the year, make and model, whether it's all-wheel drive, and what's been modified.
Bring a healthy car. Full-throttle pulls are demanding, so fix known leaks, misfires or warning lights first. If the car needs work before it's ready, we can handle that too. Our inspection and repair rate is $120 per hour for general vehicles and $150 per hour for custom cars. Ask about dyno pricing when you book.
Installing parts before your dyno day? We welcome customer-supplied parts. Work we do comes with a warranty of 60 days or 3,000 miles on new parts, and 60 days or 3,000 miles on labor.
