Signs you need exhaust repair
Your exhaust carries hot gases from the engine out the back of the car and keeps noise down along the way. These are the usual signs something's wrong:
- Louder than normal. A hole in the muffler or a failed joint lets exhaust out before it reaches the tailpipe.
- Rattling underneath. Heat shields and hangers rust and loosen. A catalytic converter can also rattle when its insides break apart.
- Ticking on a cold start. A small leak at the exhaust manifold often ticks when cold and quiets as the metal warms up.
- Exhaust smell in the cabin. This can mean a leak is letting fumes into the car. Exhaust contains carbon monoxide, so get it checked right away.
- Hanging or dragging pipes. A broken hanger can let the exhaust sag, and it can get torn off on a bump.
- Check engine light. Exhaust leaks and failing converters or oxygen sensors can set codes.
Performance exhaust
If you've bought an aftermarket system, we can install it. We welcome customer-supplied parts. Want proof it made a difference? Our all-wheel-drive dyno can measure the car before and after the install.
What to expect
Tell us what you're hearing or smelling and where it seems to come from. We put the car on a lift, find the leak or broken part, and give you an estimate within 48 hours.
Our inspection and repair rate is $120 per hour for general vehicles and $150 per hour for custom cars. Minor repairs are usually done in 24 to 48 hours, and most work is finished within a week.
Our warranty covers new parts for 60 days or 3,000 miles, and labor for 60 days or 3,000 miles. If exhaust damage is part of an insurance claim, we can help with the paperwork.
